“bike for hunting _bow holder for mountain bike”

Keep in mind that where I hunt in Minnesota it is legal to have your gun uncased and loaded while riding a bike. I have certainly toyed with the idea of having an ATV style rack on the handlebars, but that means I can not travel tight twisty trails and I do like the fact that the upright scabbard allows for quick handling.

Excellent mobility, speed and ability to get me to and from my hunting stands with ease. I have owned Quietkat now for a couple years, a 72 volt Rancher model and have made numerous accessories to aid me with my hunting adventures. It’s lite, durable and I’m able to get into some of the tightest places. Game animals walk right past it as if it wasn’t there. Great Value.

After three years of rough use, the vinyl covering has held up surprisingly well, marred only by a few predictable chips and scuffs, and the olive drab base coat continues to prevent any glare or reflections.

I bought this go-kart for my daughters about a year and a half ago or maybe it was 2-1/2 years ago who knows. It sits in our garage and has barely been used. Its a constant source of headache and I wish I could go back in time and convince myself to NOT buy this go-kart. I HATE when my kids want to use it because just as the case today, I couldn’t get the thing to start. If there was a way I knew to lemon law it,..simply return it for a refund, I would do so. It has so many problems that they never seem to end. It would start OK when we had just purchased the go-kart but you always had to have someone sitting behind the wheel pushing on the accelerator or the engine would die,…no idling with this go-kart without it dying. Also, the right rear tire has never held air long. I think the recommended age for this go-kart is 14+ but it is really designed for about an 8 year old. While the kart has knobby tires indicating it could travel off road, my daughter who was 7 at the time and 42lbs could not drive it off road up a moderate incline in the grass without needing one of us to push. And while the go-kart will pull my 12 year old on pavement, at 5’3″ she can barely fit into the go-kart with the seat all the way back. The turning on the go-kart is very poor, the right front tire is almost bald because the other front tire doesn’t touch the ground and I called the company about these problems and to their credit, even though they told me it was past the 90 day limit they did send me a replacement for the tire that goes flat but they then told me I’d have to find an engine shop and pay to have the tire put on. They also told me to go on their website and follow videos to clean out the carburetor which might help with the engine failing and terrible power. I might be able to change my car’s tire but I am not a mechanic and the company needs to do more than send a piece of junk to me and expect me to fix it. I hate the disappointed look in my kid’s eyes.

Most bike hunters I see don’t wear helmets. Always wear a helmet! Sooner or later, you’re probably going to crash.  A head injury behind a locked gate or on a trail can quickly become serious. I painted an old bike helmet with camo paint to eliminate the reflection and carry my cap in the panniers, changing it when I get off the bike.

Every stick, vine, rock, branch and felled log finds a way to impede your progress — and that’s just going downhill. Skinned ankles, banged-up shins and the never-pleasant lunging off the seat and onto the bar of the bike are good-enough reasons not even to try it.

Available now to North America, the ST1 e-bike can be found at Stromer dealers where it sells for around $3,500. If the asking price is a bit steep Stromer is currently promoting an ST1 giveaway for US residents, ending 17 May 2013.

I doubt it would be very good in deep snow. This thing is great on somewhat groomed or solid trails. Huge rocks, ditches and deep mud or snow would stop it. I ride in sand in the central NJ and it does ok if I watch where I go. I have a couple fire trails I go on and it makes baiting real easy if you have decent access. Used in the right conditions it is a huge time saver. If I get in deep soft sand I get off and walk it. I twist the throttle a little and it walks and carries the load for me. when on solid ground I am back at it!

thanks for the article and the tip on the panniers. I started thinking about riding my mtn bike to hunt with when I once rode my bike into a herd of mule deer that had NO idea I was coming until I was in the middle. Luckily, none ran me over in the chaos that ensued. A buddy and I took a couple elk hunting a few years ago and though we didn’t get our elk (we got our shot, just not an elk), we could clearly see where the ATV tracks stopped and we were solo in the forest.

The low slung top tube is key with a the scabbard. I had no idea how much I roll off the back of a bike when I dismount. With a gun or bow is sticking up off the back of your trusty steed, you must go over the top tube to dismount. In heavy hunting gear the movement is like high stepping over an electric fence.

I bought my QK in 2015 and have used it for more that a season now and am very pleased with both the performance of the unit, and the service from the company. It loads into my SUV, and is easy to take in and out and no trailer needed. Carries a load of 400#s with no problem, is quiet, quick, and makes my hunts more enjoyable. At 71yo it allows me to stay in the hunt. The read more…

If the mountain bike excels as a hunting machine, it shines even more in post-season scouting. If you’re anything like me, you probably don’t mind venturing into bedding areas once deer season ends, but you still want to get in and back out as quickly as possible. With the bike, you can do just that.

The 3G Stepper is a cross between a bicycle and a StairMaster; it rides like a bicycle but is propelled by a vertical motion with your feet on two decks on either side of the frame. You stand up while riding, and your upper body gets as good a workout…

If you don’t hunt you can use this bike for camping. Load it up, push it up any trail where bicycles are allowed. You can carry your load more easily on the bike, or you can carry much more stuff just as easily, compared to backpacking. And once you set up camp, you have a bicycle to get around on, haul wood and water, ride over to that trout-filled lake, and so on.

It only took me a day of biking to learn that ATV handlebar mounts don’t work well on bikes. Neither does carrying the gun slung across your shoulder. Both methods make the bike unbalanced and can cause damage to rifle, scope or you when you fall. Some packs now feature specially designed systems to hold rifle and bow. Just make sure they don’t smack you in the head as you ride over bumps. We now use a padded canvas or leather rifle scabbard, like hunters use on horses, and attach it to the handlebar post and frame below the seat to keep the rifle out of the way but easy to access when getting off the bike. And we never ride with a round in the chamber.

My elk hunting bike would have to carry the meat for me. I thought about the Vietnam War, and the way the NVA would bring down supplies on bicycles. They loaded the bikes up and pushed them down the Ho Chi Minh Trail. History was gonna repeat itself courtesy of Thursday! I https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electric_bicycle the bike so it could carry a set of giant saddlebags. All you had to do was get the meat to the bike, load it up, and push it out.

The scabbard is built as a transport for guns and bows and not for quick removal and hunting while under way. The actual rubber mounts for the guns are geared toward sleek weapons and not a short stubby shotgun and I have had to improvise the upper attachment.
