The following is a description of my current bike set up. It works out pretty well but I am swapping out the tires this week for a tighter knob/tread pattern to further reduce punctures under load. Miles upon miles on sharp gravel roads is hell on tires, especially under heavy loads.
Debuting stateside at this year's Interbike Expo, Jango's Flik folding bike adds a travel-friendly model to Topeak's line of clever multi-activity cycles. After months of enjoyment riding Jango's full suspension bike, we're excited…
Getting to remote stands usually requires entering into the woods well before daylight; getting out requires long walks in the dark. Neither scenario makes for a silent passage. Striking a compromise between a quiet approach and a quick advance can be difficult — which is exactly what a mountain bike can offer.
I started thinking it out. The bike would have to get me around on abandoned roads and pack trails. It didn’t have to be fast but it had to be able to roll over rocks and logs. ALSO it had to be usable as a push-type cargo bike. Let me explain. Hunting is a great activity – it’s not a sport, exactly, it’s serious business – but it involves a lot of hard work. Especially after you kill an animal. http://electricbikediscounts.com elk, even if you shoot it through the heart, can make one last dash, 25, 50, even 100 yards. It will usually head down hill or into brush. You have to crawl in after it and butcher it on the spot, then you have to get it out of the woods. Not much of a problem with deer, but an elk is the size of a horse. A lot of hunters end up carrying the elk out in pieces, on their backs, a quarter or a half mile. Maybe more.
Don't toss those those dead rechargeables out of your mobile phone, camcorder or camera—they can be recycled. In fact, they're toxic, the industry wants them back and is providing thousands of recycle bins in the U.S. and Canada to make…

What a great morning of XC racing we had at Awaba today. We had 9 kids on the development track who were rewarded with cake pops made by Annie G, plus a pick from the lolly/chip bucket! This event was directed by Dallas. Thanks to all the parents who helped out. Lots of junior riders, as well as big numbers across all the grades had us all smiling. Also lots of first time racers, I hope you all feel very welcome. Thanks to Dean for setting a great course and to all the volunteers – our wonderful President, time keepers and first aid, who make it all possible. You are legends!
If you are concerned about the speed and power of an electric bike, pay attention to the motor size. Electric motor size is measured in watts and usually ranges between 250 and 750. When deciding on the appropriate amount of wattage, think about factors like the weight of the rider and the desired speed and terrain for the bike. If your child will mostly be on a flat surface, lower wattage should suffice; if they are planning to ride up and down hills, look for a bike with a larger motor.
A couple of issues I see with the use of the bikes: First of all, once I arrive at my treestand, I need to find a place to hide it so it doesn’t attract the attention of deer. Secondly, when I have a lot of gear to haul in and out, will the bike and trailer be able to handle it all? Will I be able to pull a deer out with the bike, or will it mean one more trip back and forth to my truck?
Here are two more advantages I see: One is the reduction in scent impact when travelling in my hunting area. My boots are not touching the ground, and I will be moving faster, leaving less signs of my intrusion that might alarm deer. Secondly, I ride a bike quite a bit on trails through wooded areas near my home, and I see that deer react much differently to a person on a bike than they do to a person on foot. They don’t see a person sitting on a pair of wheels as nearly the threat that they perceive a person walking. I’m not sure how much that will be an advantage, but spooking deer while scouting and travelling to and from a hunting location could be reduced.
Originally developed to build on Shimano’s top level component group Dura Ace, the Di2 electronic shifting system changed the roadie game with unmatched speed, accuracy and precision. Now with its third iteration, Di2 makes its debut for internal…
Bikes these days come with both front and rear suspension. I opt for only the front, as the “hard tail” allows me to attach a luggage rack to the rear seat post and clamp to the lower frame. I snap on a set of panniers that hold my hunting gear—extra clothes, knives, saw, rope, food, space blanket, etc. I still carry a backpack, but heavy items go into the panniers to help evenly distribute the weight. The panniers also double as a place to carry a couple of quarters. I added a good seat post that flexes up and down, and an orthopedic-designed seat to make the ride a little more comfortable.

The base frame is welded or fillet brazed (your choice), heat-treated chrome moly (Columbus Zona or TruTemper Verus) with the same tube sizes as the Vida Loca BMX bikes. Chainstays and seatstays are .75″ x .035″ aircraft grade chrome moly. Cable routing is standard Thursday, triple stops under the top tube, with a top-pull front derailleur.
Best known for their chocolate, watches and banks, the Swiss are also quite skilled bicycle makers as it turns out. If the BMC + Lamborghini collaboration wasn’t proof enough, see Stromer and new ST1 pedal-assisted electric bicycle. Now available for the first time stateside, the highly engineered electric bicycle resembles more of a city cruiser than the moped-looking bikes your delivery man rides—a design shift we’re more than pleased with. By leaning more toward a traditional frame geometry and monochrome colorway the new ST1 e-bike stands to go relatively unnoticed on the street—until it’s flying past the pack at up to 33 MPH that is.
Many veteran mountain bike bowhunters would likely agree that their bike is there most important piece of “gear” behind their bow. The reason is simple – the bike enables you to access prime hunting grounds much more efficiently than by walking. Horses can be used but they require a lot of overhead and hassle in comparison to silently unloading a bike and putting on the miles.
